Mazel Tovs all around!

All my mother's friends seem to be having babies, so she asked me to make a bunch of cards for her.

As Murphy's law would have it, I took the pictures on my phone yesterday since I had no camera to take the pictures with and then today, guess what showed up? My new camera, of course!

But my mother already gave away the cards, so I can't re-take the pics. So some of them are sorta blurry.

Who wants to hear something funny?? (Oooh, ooh, pick me!)

You know how I'm always having camera trouble?

Well, I just got back form camp today and guess what happened in camp? MY CAMERA WAS RELOCATED!!! To the bottom of the Ten Mile River!! Whoohoo!

Actually, I was very upset when it happened, but now it's just funny. I don't think I'm gonna get a new one soon, so I'll see how this blog-a-ma-jig is gonna work. Maybe I'll use my sister's camera.

But basically I'm just updating you on what's happening and I will hopefully get posts up soon!

Summer Cards

I'm going to camp tomorrow morning, so I wanted to make a bunch of cards like I normally do so I can send cute cars (mainly B-day cards) to my friends from camp. I can always call, but letters and cards are so campy, and I love them!

Here are the cards I made today- I honestly feel like crap today, so nice comments would be appreciated!

3 are the same basic design...and all the glittery cupcakes are from Hallmark. The rest of the materials are all a mush in my mind...idk!!!

Graduation Randomness (lots of pics!)

I GRADUATED YESTERDAY!!! WHOOHOO!!I just had to get that out there!

So I don't have many cards (that I made) to show off...actually, none... BUT I have a few random crafty things to show that are fun!

WARNING!!! LONG POST AHEAD!!! (But it's good- keep reading!)

#1:

Check out this stunning card my sister gave me with my graduation gift:

Is that GORGEOUS or what? It's from Papyrus and I love the glitter and the fact that it's a butterfly! She told me she wanted to get a super card for the girl who loves card. She totally nailed it.

(If you'd like to see the present she got for me, let me know... I just forgot to take the picture now.)

#2:

I was going through old stuff in my garage and I found a lot of things from 8th grade, including a children's book I had to write for English class. I remember working FOREVER on it, but it really was a good book. So I took pictures of it so everyone could see how awesome I was as a 13 year old. Lol, tooting my own horn.

The book is a cross between a scrapbook-style story and actual pictures and backgrounds. Most of the characters were cut out in teeny tiny pieces and assembled together carefully.

Here we go:

This was all done in a mini-scrapbook. Here's the cover. It was called Rosie and Rosalyn: Best Friends Forever, and honestly it was more like a high school or junior high drama but it was supposed to be for children so I made my characters 3rd graders.

Aw...they're cute.

I even had a copyright page. (Some things are crossed out for privacy reasons.) I thought I was so professional!

And here's the story! (You can't really read it, but the story isn't really the point of showing this.)

That was fun! Onto the next (and last) part...

#3:

I will hopefully be going away next year to Israel to study for a year, as will many of my friends, but we're all going to be in different schools, so I wanted to make some signs for my friends as going-away presents, that they could hang on their dorm walls. So I had the idea to make a "miss you" sign made over a background of tons of punched hearts. I used an EK Success punch, and I literally sat there punching for ages! My garbage can was full of papers that had been eaten up by my punch.

But seriously, I love that punch. It gets so much use from me.

I will most likely be putting this in the center of a larger paper with picture of that particular friend and me around it, but I still need to print my pictures to do that. :)

The black chipboard letters are Bo Bunny and the rest I cut out free-hand. I just sprinkle the hearts on Elmer's- glue coated paper. I tried to stick to double-sided patterns so I wouldn't get too many white hearts.

I mainly used scraps, so this is a great way to use up scrap paper.

Big Project- Part 2

I finally finished my *big project*!!!! Yayness!

It took a lot shorter than I would have thought.

I spent about 5 or 6 late nights finishing them and it turned out great!

I've never made 50 cards at once, so this is a huge deal for me.

What was annoying was actually filling them out and personalizing the messages, since I'm not that great at writing inside cards. It helped that I had typed up a list of the teachers and what they taught me, so I'd have it in front of me to keep track of and know what to thank them for.

I also couldn't help bringing them into school to show off; my classmates were so impressed. ( It helped my ego :))

And since filling them out took so long, i ended up doing a lot in class- the same classes of the teachers I was thanking for teaching me. Ironic.

So here's the last bunch. I've got most of them lined up and then some of the last few at the end.

Happy Mother's Day- and a BABY!!!

Hello, hello! Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

Let's start off with the most exciting news- my Sister-in-law gave birth to a beautiful baby BOY!!! It's their first boy after 4 girls, so it's a pretty big excitement! My !st nephew!

I'd show pictures of the baby, but I don't think my brother would like that. But here's the card I gave to my sister-in-law when I visited her in the hospital:

Isn't it cute? Well, my nephew is cuter!!!

The patterned paper is K&Company Amy Butler paper and the 2stickers are from Making Memories. I used a Hero Arts card base and a Uni-Ball white gel pen. And a Fiskars punch (way on the bottom, there, see?)

My nieces stayed by my house for the weekend, while their mother was in the hospital, and funnily enough, it was one of my niece's birthday on Friday. (yes, I know, my niece and nephew have birthdays a day apart...it's cool!)

So here's the quick card I whipped up for my niece- who turned 7! I can't believe how big she is!

All it is is some Marcella by K fun paper, with a Hallmark cupcake on top. I put the googly eyes over the sticker's eyes, and it became so much cuter, just my niece's type! I wrote the sentiment with a Uni-ball white gel pen.

And now onto the mother's day card! I used the K& Company Amy Butler paper- I just cut out a flower from one of the patterns and popped it up on a Kraft card base. I took some pink K&Company Que Sera Sera paper and a MSE stamp and a Making Memories sticker and made the sentiment! The heart is from the Amy Butler paper and the punch I used is from EK Success.

And....STICKLES!! I hope you ca nsee the stickles all around the flower. My mother loved them.

Big Project- Part 1

Since I'll be graduating this June, I've decided that I want to show a personal thank you to my High School teachers. So I've started on the huge task of making a thank you card for every teacher who has taught me in high school. I made a list, and that equals 50 teachers! Whew! I've never made so many cards before. This is what I got done a few nights ago.... (my 1st time working on it):

All the cards are 4"x4" and I covered all the card fronts, so I get 4 cards out of every 12"x12" cardstock and 9 card faces. I jsut added A strip of paper and some ribbon (picture included) and an embossed "Thanks" (MSE stamp and Zing! embossing powder) and a K&Company sticker. The yellow background is Autumn Leaves and the green unfinished card background is Marcella by K.

And yes, I do work on the floor. I have a desk, but it faces a wall, and my TV is behind me, so....Supernatural always wins out in the end. *sheepish grin*

I've got about 11 cards so far...39 to go! (Not to mention filling them out...)

On a slightly random note, check out my British flag, Royal Wedding inspired nails!

I saw a video for this on YouTube and tried it out. Not bad for having never done nail art, huh?

Craft Haul!

For those of you who are on a budget, like me, you know how much fun it is to finally get new craft things. I went to a local discount store that has quite a few quality scrapbooking and crafting things for really cheap.. Most of it is a few collections old, but still really cute. Check out what I bought:

It's all either Making Memories or K& Company- now you know why those are my main two companies that I use.

I'm doing a *Big Project* now and I'm making more cards than I ever had before, so I wanted to get a lot of cute stickers for it. That's why I have 3 of the same thing. I'm not sure if you can see the prices, but everything was 99 cents, except for the paper pad (K&Company Amy Butler) which was $4.99 and the daisy flowers, which were $1.69.

Fun, fun! This all cost about $18! Yay!

Happy Happy Birthday!

It seems everyone I know has a birthday around the same time in April. My father, sister, two of my friends and the woman who cleans my house all have a birthday in the same week (about a week and a half ago). I decided to make 5 cards with the same design, but You'll see that they pretty much all look different. Oh, well. Here they are:All 5 of them:

Hero Arts Chocolate brown card base, Uni Ball Signo broad gel pen, Jolee's Boutique cupcake sticker,Glitter chipboard circle, K&Company paper cut into 1" circles (EK Success punch), Grey paper and white paper.

That's my handwriting on the card- it's getter better, right?

For my housekeeper:

The paper is the same as the card above (K&Company- Marcella by K) and the same grey paper as well. The Orange paper is K&Company Que Sera Sera paper and the 3 stickers areall wither Making Memories or K&Company. Brads are Making Memories.

As busy as this card is, I really like it.

This is for my older sister. (On that note, I hope she got it in the mail by now...)

Um...I seriously don't know where these supplies are from. I'm gonna guess the rub-ons are from K& Company or Making Memories. The ribbon is probably K&Company as well and I actually know the rest. The card base is Hero Arts, the Green paper is Autumn Leaves and the Stamp is MSE. Ink is black and paper is off-white

Ok...last one for this post. This is for my other friend, who obviously turned 18. Whoohoo for her! The 3 stickers are from Studio 112 and the ribbon is from a MSE grabbox, so who knows? The orange paper is K&Company (Que Sera Sera) and the paper is off-white and brown. That's it! Oh, and a EK Success corner rounder punch was used.

In other (sort of related) news, I went to the Harry Potter Exhibit in Times Square and LOVED it. I am a crazy Harry Potter Fan, as is my whole family , and my firends. We went on the day of my two friends' birthday, and one of htem was with me. Too bad nobody wanted to give the birthday girl any discounts. :-(While I was there, I bought some gifts...but I just now realized I have no pictures of them. And THEN I found out that hte ridiculously expensive Harry Potter stickers I bought in the gift shop for scrapbooking hte day are being sold at Two Peas in a Bucket for cheaper- darn. Oh well...here's the stickers I bought. The picture is from the Two Peas site:

They're cute, right? And here's some pictures from the exhibition (outside, since you couldn't take pictures.) I also have picture with my parents and friends but I don't think they want their pictures online. I would definitely recommend this exhibit to anyone who is a big Harry Potter fan, at least of the movies. This is the last North America stop for the exhibit, and it's open until September. It's pretty popular, so order online if you can only make it one day.

One last thing...I mentioned 5 cards, but there's only 4.... *hangs head* whoops. I forgot to take a picture of the last one. I will put it up in a future post. I have a big project I'm working on and maybe a giveaway, so follow this blog for more!

Another Happy Birthday and a Ribbon Card

So....I didn't realize my neighbor (who I made a card for that I showed in my last post) was making her birthday party as a joint party for both her and her husband, since his birthday was not too long ago. So I decided to make him a card, too. I reallllllly don't see this card as manly AT ALL, but it's cheerful and at least not girly, so that's the best I can do. I used the E.A.D. design summer color challenge colors and I just had fun with it!

And...here's the back, where I usually just put the "handed stamped by" stamp, which I sign underneath of. This time I had smeared some inky spot on the back by accident, so this is my funky way of covering it! Cute! (Tooting my own horn here...)

Supplies:

Off-white card stock

MSE Happy Birthday stamp set (I used the dot, the sentiment, and the hat on the back from there, and I used a Happy Birthday sentiment on the inside which I didn't taker a picture of)

K&Company hat sticker -it was a different color but I covered it with the yellow paper to make it match the challenge colors and I drew stripes on it.

Since I was already making cards, I decided to make one using ribbon, since I feel like I've abandoned my poor ribbons lately.

I used a technique a lot of people have used- not quite sure of the official name for this, but it's just the "laying across a bunch of ribbon scraps in a window kind of look" technique, I guess.

Not to many supplies here, since I honestly don't know where most of my ribbons are from, but let me try to guess, haha:

I think the striped on with the white background is K&Company, while the orange one is Autumn Leave and the rest are from an MSE grabbox or from a random drawer in my house...

To make the grey frame, I used my paper trimmer and carefully took a 3" by 4" rectangle and cut line 3/4" around each edge. I tied the ribbon on one side, did some faux stitching and writing with my Uni-Ball Signo Broad gel pen, and put some foam adhesive underneath before sticking it to an off-white card stock base. Easy!!

Happy Birthday window card

It's my neighbor's birthday today so I wanted to make sure the card I made for her was extra special! It may not look like much, but it took me forever to decide on what to do, find my elements, and cut all those darn circles! I'm still getting the hang of my Martha Stewart circle cutter, so bear with me.

Here's the card:

I like the idea of having a window cute out with a cute element poking through from inside. I was happy to find the little cake- I think it's from K&Company, as are the patterned papers. I used this brown card base from Hero Arts- they come as note cards with matching envelopes.

Btw, my handwritten "happy birthday" isn't to shabby, huh? I always thought I had terrible handwriting!

Hey! Quick post, just a birthday card I made for a friend who turned 18!

I tried to use colors from a challenge and a sketch, but I have issues with sticking to a design, so I decided the card didn't really qualify for either. (The challenges were the Color Cue one and I forgot the other...whoops.)

But I still like it. Actually, I'm obsessed with it.

Lots of good news!! :-)

1. I got my driver's license!! Whoohoo!

2. My teacher had a baby! (Girl) Mazel tov!!

So I made a card (or 2) for her!

Card #1:

I used this as a tag on a Purim basket I'm giving her.

It's an idea I'm pretty sure I made up myself (unless I somehow unconsciously stole the idea from somewhere else) , and I'm pretty darn proud of it! How cute is it?

I'm also giving her this card, which I posted long ago in this post. I love how it can be for a girl baby or a boy baby!

and it's the first time I've ever made 2 of the same card. I really like it. I was asked by my mother and my friend to make a thank you card, and this is what I thought of!

Papers used are from the K&Company paper pads I always use, Que Sera Sera and Wild Saffron. The black and white paper is from a Marcella by K paper pad. The card base is Kraft and the heart is punched from Walmart glitter paper. The gel pen is Uni-ball Signo Broad and the other papers are off-white and purple. The sentiment is a MSE stamp.

Whew!

I just got back form a 2 day vacation with my school to a hotel- cuz why not? My school is so cool! But I managed to make 2 cards the night before I left since it was my sister-in-law's birthday and my neighbor's birthday over the weekend.

Here's the one I made for my sister-in-law:

Speaking of cupcakes, I really want this stamp set from Pure Innocence, mainly for the cute cupcake sentiments, since I love using cupcakes on cards, even non-birthday ones!

He turned 16, so i wanted a more fun card, but it may have come out to young for him. Oh, well. At least it's not girly.

So I thought I could do this for 2 challenges, the CPS one and the "Less is More" (3 squares) one, but I wasn't so sure this was "clean and simple" but I figure "what the heck?" No one's going to get mad at me- hopefully. Next time I'll make it simpler!

The squares are from this old Making Memories scrap I had. Seriously, I keep everything as scraps- and here, I was glad I did. The scrap was tiny, bit I was able to get 3 1 1/4" squares out of it- perfect! I hope it's "cool" enough for my neighbor!

(Side note- isn't the picture a lot clearer this time? I think I'mm take pictures on my dining room table more often; the lighting is better there!)

It's kinda pathetic that it took this long for me to get back into card making, and only when I was sick. Yes, sadly, today I stayed home from school because I felt sick and while I was supposed to be sleeping, I made a few cards! I'm loving how much color there is in them!

Goodness, I'm sure you all see how often I use my K&Company paper packs! (Que Sera Sera and Wild Saffron) I got them for about $3 to $5 each and I seriously use them for EVERYTHING!!! So I barely need to tell you where my papers are from!

It's sorta weird, but I've been sitting on the floor, watching TV and making cards. Weird combo, I know but apparently it works!

Also, I'm not sure if anyone's interested, but I had to make a collage representing myself or how I'd like to be seen for an Art History class in school and I decided to make mine look "artsy." I know it's not a card, but I used a lot of card elements in it so I thought it would be cool to show on here! (If you like any art things, I can also show all the projects I've had to do for art class in school- so much fun!) Let me know if you like this too! So pretty, huh? I love making them with a large scalloped circle punch (I only have a 3 inch one, but I use it all the time! Count how many are just in this post!) and adding Stickles to the edges! (it's on the green one!) Oh, and I think you know where the papers are from!

I know, I know, I haven't posted in forever! Trying to get back into the swing of things after finals, vacation, and all that craziness!

While I was away on vacation, I finally got around to buying those products I really needed to repurchase but had been holding off on, like foam adheisve and a good brown ink pad! So it got me excited to start making cards again!

I started with this card, since it was my mother's birthday on Saturday. (Happy Birthday!!!)

I know it's a little "childish" but I love the cheeriness of it!

I used these Hallmark glittery cupcake stickers that my sister got for me as a birthday present back in the summer and I never used! I'm so glad I did- they're just adorable! I love how the frosting is like different hairstyles!

(I heat set the sticker a little, because the glitter was flying all over the place, and it really helped!)My mother loved it (or at least she told me she did- what else would I expect her to say?) and I'm happy with the card!

So I haven't posted on here in a while, because I was really busy and my computer wasn't accepting my camera so I couldn't put my picture on my computer! But it's okay because it worked today!

Last weekend I went away as a "delegate" for my school at a convention of private schools! I had a really great time meeting girls from all over the US and Canada.

Before I left, I made a quick thank you card for my host, who turned out to be the sweetest girl ever! (We were set up in homes in the place we stayed.)

Purse card!

My neighbor asked me if I could make a card for her friend's birthday. She was organizing a bunch of people to chip in for a nice bag for this woman and they're giving her a gift certificate for the bag. So my neighbor asked that the card have a purse-theme or bag-theme. So, of course, I went straight to my subscriptions on YouTube to see if any of them had any cute idea. And I found the CUTEST idea from Dawn Griffith on her YouTube channel! The best part is, it's not just a card, it's a gift card holder! Exactly what I needed!

So here's my take on the card:

The inside:

I added a little gift-card pocket by using a 4 1/2" by 2 1/2 (I think!) piece of cardstock and scoring it by 1/4" on 3 sides. Then I cut away the bit where the score lines overlapped in the corners, then folded the scored parts in, added a ton of adhesive, and stuck it down. Oh, and I cut an opening with a 1" circle punch.

The card in it is just a random card I had so I could make sure it fit.

I had to improvise a little because I don't have a die cutting machine so I don't have the Top Note die. But I found a picture of it online, and I resized it and fiddled around a bit and it turned out okay.

Skipping Stones Design Challenge #48 SSSC21

My family planned a surprise birthday party for my aunt on Saturday night at her daughter's house. It was so much fun- all my cousins and their children were there and I had a blast! My mother, of course, asked me to make a card for her sister. I really only had a few minutes before we had to leave, so I quickly used a Sweet Sunday Sketch from Skipping Stones Design that I had copied down the other day. It's the last sketch Karen Giron will be doing as SSD's guest designer.

I've always loved cards like this- with squares for backgrounds! (My squares are 1 1/4" and the card is a standard 5 1/2" x 4 1/4")

I love how this card turned out! My aunt seemed to love it, but then again, I guess her job as an aunt is to love anything her nieces make for her... hee hee!

I just wish I had made my stitching lines a little straighter...oh well :-)

I know someone who was really upset yesterday because she was having trouble in school with people being mean to her. :-( So I decided to make her a card! I love this sentiment: "Sending you love, friend!" and I really wanted to use it! I used this week's sketch from Card Positioning Systems (CPS).

Here's a close-up:

In the end, I liked the card, but it was too "old" and not fun enough to give to a teenager to cheer her up. You know what I mean?

So I asked my mother what she thought and she agreed with me, so I ended up giving this ( <--- click it!! It's the second card in the post) card to her instead, which I already had lying around. It used the same sentiment, so I was happy. She seemed really happy to get the card, so now I feel good!

But I still have this card so I decided to share!

Oh, Alice!- chess card

I just found this AMAZING blog the other day and I'm seriously surprised that I didn't know about it before! It's called Oh, Alice! and it's Alice in Wonderland themed!!! I know, it's awesome, right?

So they have an Alice in Wonderland challenge each week using a different idea from the book. It's like this blog was made with me in mind!

So this week's theme is Chess or anything chess themed, such as a chessboard pattern.

This is my card:

I incorporated a chess theme with the checker board patterned background, and the birthday "queen" idea.

I'm really happy with how it turned out.

I wrote the "birthday" with a white gel pen- the only thing I don't like is my terrible handwriting!

Here's the crown:

I didn't own a crown embellishment, so I googled "cartoon crown," printed it out, and cut it out over a blue paper. Then I used a sliver paint marker to add a border and details, along with some silver paper and some pearls.

Pretty cool, huh?

Waltzingouse Challenge #20- Make a Wish!

Hello, hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I know I sure did!

I really like Waltzingmouse's Sketch this week- it's simple, and gives you a lot of room to work with! I usually don't use tags on my cards, so this was a great chance for me to work on something new!

Here's what I came up with! I love making birthday cards- you always need them!

All three stamps I used are from MSE's Birthday stamp set. I thought I needed to add a little bit more purple to bring out the purple behind the hats. So I used a sentiment as a background, and I think it came out nice! I love how the squiggly sentiment makes it more fun!

So..... I wanted to make a card for a challenge, but you know how your card can seem to have a mind of it's own? So that's what happened this time. I had a card sketch, but the card totally strayed from the sketch.

I wanted to make a happy card for a friend who has been looking sad lately. So i wanted to do a "bee" happy bard with a bee on it, but I only had the sentiment "bee joyful" (MSE stamp). So I decided to use that. The bee is from a Prima stamp but it's only part of the stamp - I cut it in half. (It said "love" underneath.)

I used my EK Success punch with my "favorite" paper from Making Memories and another paper from the set for the thin circle around the sentiment.

The pink paper on the purple is actually two strips cut at a slant, but then I added the ribbon so it looks like one paper. The ribbon is from a grabbox from MSE. (Read my post about it here.)

Busy, busy!

I'm swamped with schoolwork now, but I really want to make time for card-making! So here's what I've managed to do lately:

First of all, I really wanted to use this Colorbok kit (it's called Home, but I can't find it online) that my friends got me over the summer for a birthday present. I decided to make a card using mainly things from the kit. Here's what I came up with:

All the elements, except for the card base, the white gel pen I wrote the "you" with, and the embossed heart are from the kit. The gel pen is a Uni-ball Signo Broad gel pen and the heart was stamped with a MSE stamp ( I think it was the Baby Girl stamp set, but I might be confused) and embossed using clear Zing! embossing powder from American crafts.

I'm pretty impressed with my handwriting, considering I usually have appalling handwriting!

Here's the next card. It's sort of polka-dot themed.

The "happy for you" is from MSE's Joy stamp set and I cut the circle with Martha Stewart's circle cutter. The green polka dot paper appears yet again!(Making Memories basics kit) It's really my favorite, paper for some reason! The dot is from Mse's birthday stamp set, and I randomly stamped it all over in black ink. The bow uses a random ribbon I think I found on a gift given to someone in my family, and I decided to recycle is. I do that all the time- how about you?

Birthday Cupcake Card

Embellish Background Stamp Color Challenge and Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #16

Whew... that title is a mouthful!

The first challenge I'm participating in is Embellish Magazine's Color Challenge:

The colors are white, black gray, and yellow, which is a great combo! You also need to use a background stamp.

For my card, I used a squiggly stamp from a Martha Stewart stamp set and stamped it in rows on a yellow paper using a black ink (which looks gray, but it's not!). It was fun to create my own background! Then I punched the gray paper with a Fiskars threading water punch. The sentiment is from MSE and it's from the Baby Boy stamp set, and stamped in black ink. The large flower and the small flowers are from K&Company's Wedding Collection embellishments. I stamped a circle from the same Martha Stewart stamp set and stuck it between the top flower and the bottom one (which came together) to add some more black to it.

Here's what I came up with:

It's sort of a mix of themes, because it's bright and fun, but also a little bit "serious" because of the middle paper and the Kraft base.

The leaves and hearts papers are from Marcella by K&Company and I'm not really sure where the rub-ons (the sentiment and the star) are from, but probably K&Company, too. The birthday hat is also from K&Company, from the Confetti collection. The middle paper is from a Marcella by K&Company pad. I doodled a dashed lone and a zig-zag on some purple cardstock with a Uni-ball Signo Broad white gel pen. I just added some scrap scalloped gray paper from the previous card for some added interest!

Embellish Paper Piecing Color Challenge-

Hello!

I'm happy I've started to follow the Embellish Magazine blog, because this color challenge is so much fun! I've never done paper piecing before, but I love the look. This is what I came up with:

Here's an up close look at the birdy:

It was so much fun to make and I love how it turned out!

The polka dot paper is from Making Memories and the other two papers are from the Wild Safron pad from K&Company. The bird stamp is from Autumn Leaves and the sentiment from MSE's Birthday stamp set.

I also used that paper to make a card that I made about 2 weeks ago and forgot to post.

Here it is:

I made this right after I came home from being gone all summer, so I used all the new products I had bought over the summer. I stamped and embossed the circle using a Martha Stewart stamp and Zing! embossing powder. I cut the circle using the Martha Stewart Circle Cutter I recently bought (and really like). The sentiment is from MSE's Love Friend set. I don't know where the ribbon is from; I got it in a random Grabbox I ordered. The heart is from a Colorbok kit.

Embellish Color Challenge and stuff :-)

So school's started and it's so much fun! Senior year is awesome! It's been three days and I've already had a day off for Labor Day and now Rosh Hashana! Shana Tova, everyone!

So I saw the Embellish Magazine blog's color challenge and I immediately thought of the planner I've been using. How cute is it? If only it came in a patterned paper...

So onto the card I made...I'll admit it's a bit weird, cuz it's a baby card but not in baby colors... but it's cute. I used MSE stamps; the sentiment from the Baby Girl set and the feet from the Baby Boy set.

So I've been loving the Que Sera Sera designer paper pad from K&Company for a really long time now. It's pretty and colorful, but the best part for me is the backsides, because they're solid colors and have a nice subtle design so you can use them on everything. The squares on the card above use it, and so do all the cards below.

I bought this paper punch and this one for only $4 each at a local discount store. It was pretty sweet, so I made a card using each:

I used an MSE sentiment from the Joy set and the dot stamp from the Birthday set. The circle uses the Que Sera Sera paper.

This card uses the Que Sera Sera paper as the background, and the sentiment and hat are from MSE's birthday stamps set.

And then I made a card which was originally the contest card, until I realized I used brown, not black. So I just made it anyway and forgot about the color theme.

So the holiday is about to start- gotta go!!

Wow, it's been forever!!

Ok, so I feel like I haven't been on here in awhile!! The last post I made was my entry for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration. I was so excited to make the tope ten!! Thanks to everyone for their sweet comments :-) Challenge

So basically, I was gone for the whole summer- since the end of June. I just came home in Friday and it's crazy!! My craft space was in the process of moving from the basement to the attic, but I didn't have the chance to finish while I was packing for camp so when I came home I found that my mother had moved everything for me, so it was a HUGE mess, so I'm in the process of cleaning that up and orginizing it all!

Before I left, I made a bunch of cards to send to people over the summer, for birthdays and just to say hello because it's so not "campy" if you just call the person- you have to send a letter!!

I didnt make too many, just a few but I didn't have time to post them before the summer, so here we go:

Last summer I needed so many baby cards, so I made a bunch this year and didn't even need them! typical....

I like that this one has both pink and blue, so you can use it for a baby boy or a baby girl!

Happy Birthday Cards:
This first one I didn't use, but I'm giving it to someone I worked with who I just bumped into yesterday, and it turns out it was her birthday!! So it all works out!

This one I gave to someone's little sister who I just met this year, although I've been friends with the older sister for a few years. And only this year did we realize we had the same birthday!! So it was really cute! (Come to think of it, I should probably change my info on this blog to 17 years old and a SENIOR in high school- ahhh!!!)

Father's Day Card ( A little late!) and Color inspiration Challenge number 4

Wow, I've been gone for a while! I had finals and Regents and I'm finally free!
Yay, summer!

So I made this Father's Day card for my Father a while ago, but I never posted it. It's pretty "girly" for a man's card, with all that glitter on it (I have no idea why..) but I think the colors cancel out the girly-ness!

Here you go:

He seemed to like it, so that's good. I used a K&Company chipboard for the "dad" and some walmart company glitter paper for the glitter.

The second card is a card for Kristina Werner's contest, which ends in like 5 seconds so here we go!

It uses a K&Company circle and the same glitter paper as before. THe inks are from Ranger and stamps from MSE. I'm ordering some more, bcause they're on sale today so check out this blog for details!

MSE "grabbox" review

Hello, everyone!!!

So I ordered a "grabbox" from My Sentiments Exactly about a month ago and it canme about two weeks ago. I ordered it through Adrienne Kennedy's blog, on a "Thrifty Thursday". It was at least the 2nd or 3rd time doing this "grabbox" thing, so I decided to give it a try. It was a great price= $20 for a bunch of random things from the company! The shipping was a little expensive, but it still seemed worth it so I took the chance.

Here's what I got:

Pretty sweet, huh? DEFINITELY worth $20! I got a whole bunch of stamps, papers, ribbons, rub-ons, an ink spot, brads, eyelets, and stickers!!

There were a few already cut cards and papers to made into a card quickly. I also got a cool embossing powder that looked white but turned out to be an awesome metallic pink!

So here are the stamps: (closer up)

Some are rubber, both mounted on wood blocks and unmounted and some are clear stamps. They're al lreally great quality! I olnt wish I had asked not to get holiday stamps, because I'm Jewish so they're really no use to me! I think I might sell some because I have a whole bag of stamps I can't use.

And here are the ribbons!

They are so much fun- I can't wait to use them!

Bottom line: this was a great buy. Would I order it again? I'm not sure. The only problem I had was with the papers= I didn't really like those, but I liked the pre-cut ones a lot more!

InLinkz Challenge #1- Boy Birthday Card

YAY!! I love doing challenges!

I unexpectedly got an email a few days ago from InLinkz,about heir first ever card challenge!

The collor pallete is really cute and the card must be a boy birthday card. I don't think I've ever sone that before, but I just bought a "boy-themed" kit from Walmart or something so I figured I'd give it a try. This is what I came up with:

The strips of paper and the "monster" were from this kit that I don't even know the name of, I think it was a Walmart kit but sold in a random store. The brads are Making Memories and the stamps for the words are Hero Arts. The ink is Ranger and called "denim".
And of course some more stitching with a Uni-ball Signo Broad gel pen.
I think it looks fun!

WPlus9 Color Cue 4 card

Wow, it's getting hot out! I can feel summer in the air!!

The deadline for this card is in a few hours or so, so I figured I better do this now, while I'm still awake!

I think the colors are very peaceful and I made a really simple card, but it's sweet!

All I used was an EK Success heart punch and an MSE stamp with white embossing powder. Then some stitching lines and we're done!

Okay, I'm super busy with finals and stuff like that, so I figured I should post now while I have the chance.

Ever since I made that sketchbook, I've been sketching cards in it all day!

It sure cuts down on "imagination/creativity time" when making your card. I just have to pick out the right patters and go with the sketch!

So here's the first card I made! It had a bit of a mess-up, when I tried to stamp directly to the card. So I tried to salvage the card, and change it a bit. It turned out not as good as I wanted but better than nothing. :-)

I used a paper pack from Making Memories that is so old I can't find it online, (lol) but I think it's called "basics" or something like that. The ribbon is from Autumn Leaves and the upper sentiment is from MSE and the butterfly is from K&Company's Que Sera Sera stamp set that I got a while back. Of course, I used my favorite brown ink, the Espresso color from Ranger Adirondack inks. I used mini Making Memories brads and an EK Success punch to round the corners. Then I used my Uni-ball Signo gel pen for the faux stitching and detailing on the butterfly.

Ok, onto the second card! This card I'm really proud of, because I don't think I got the idea from anyone but myself! (Unless I unconsciously did, and what can I do about that?) My sister even said she loved it, which is high praise, because she usually has no interest in my cards.

( I don't know why the top left has a smudge on it, it's a camera problem, not the actual card.)

I used more of the Making Memories paper for the light blue and regular while cardstock for the white. I just made up any cloud shape, carefully cut it out, and erased my pencil lines. I used three colors of the DMC embroidery thread for the string and Kelly Panacci letter stickers for the sentiment. the scallop border was done using the Fiskars threading water punch, but only the edge peeks out so you can't see the holes.

The four parts of the kite are from different companies. the two green ones are Making Memories, the pink is Autumn Leaves, and I have no idea where the other is from.

And, last but not least...

I really like this card, how it's busy but not too busy, ya know?

It's a square card- 4 1/4" by 4 1/4" with each strip of paper being 4 1/4" by 1 1/16".

All four strips are from the same Marcella by K paper pad. The "petals" on the flower use the 1" punch by EK Success and K&Company Wild Saffron paper. The letters are Ek Success rub ons. The flower is from K&Company and I rounded the corners with the same EK Success punch.

I'm BACK!!!

Okay, so I haven't posted in a while, but I was so busy- I took my SAT's!! Let's pray that I did well on them!!
So onto the cards:

This one was made a while ago, but I never got around to taking a picture of it!!
I love the layout of this one!!

Supplies used: Marcella by K patterened paper, ink and butterfly, DMC embroidery thread, Martha Stewart stamps (I think so!) Autumn Leaves patterned paper, EK Success corner punch and 1" circle punch, MSE stamp on bottom circle with Zing! American Crafts clear embossing powder.

Then of course, I made a Mother's day card for my mother!!
Maybe the hearts were overkill, but I think they look cute!! The lines on them is made with a white gel pen, a trick I learned from Heather Summers in one of her awesome YouTube videos!

Supplies used: K& Company chipboard circle, ribbon and patterned paper, Marcella by K butterfly, MSE stamp, Ranger ink, EK Success heart punch.

Then I made this card sketchbook, which I really made a while ago, but had lying around undecorated, and then I finally decided to finish it! Isn't it cute?? The idea for this is totally NOT my own; I acctually got it from my favorite crafter/ blogger, Kristina Werner. She made a video on these books with a PDF for making your own a long time ago, like in September. Guess I took a while getting around to it, huh??

But totally check the post out if you haven't already, because it has great instructions for making it!

Supplies used: Making Memories patterned paper, Bo Bunny chipboard letters, EK Success star punch and corner rounder punch, Martha Stewart alphabet stamps, Zing! embossing powder, Marcella by K polka dot paper, I can't remember the name of the company for the arrow- sorry!!

I like how it turned out, with the fancier paper, but the "funkier" embellishments!! I can't wait to use it!

I kind of dump the sketchbook in my school bag and have it around in case I feel inspired to sketch a card layout in class! Some of my best ideas come during class!
(like the first card in this post!!)

The last two cards use EK Success punches, which I just got yesterday! They were really cheap, like 3 punches for about $3. I really like them and can't wait to use them some more!

Anyway, I hope to continue posting on a regular basis, or at least more often!

My First Challenge post!

So many bloggers put challenges on their blogs and I always looked at the entries but never actually contributed. So when Kristina Werner put a cool challenge idea on her blog, I decided to do it! The idea was a really great one: make a one layer card! It's so different from what I usually do, and uses stamping a lot, which I love. I wasn't sure if I had the right stamps for it, but I think it turned out okay!

Here's the card!:

The stitching turned out a little funy, but whatever!

I'm on a roll!....So many birthdays!!

I don't know what it is about this time of the year, but I know so many people who have their birthdays around now!!

So I spent some time making more cards, all of them birthday cards.
I finally went ahead and used my new embossing tools on a card. The sentiment on the first one is embossed, and so is the teal portion of the third card.
So here are the cards: The first one is for my friend, the second for my older sister and the third for my neighbor.

The first one I wanted to do a really "nice" look, as opposed to fun, so I didn't put Happy Birthday on the outside so I put it on the inside instead:

Company patterned paper, K&Company patterned paper, Ranger ink(Sponging), MSE stamps, Offray ribbon, Zing! American Crafts white opaque embossing powder, EK Success corner rounder punch (for scallop and corners)

The second card: (for my sister) I love how this one turned out!!

Supplies used: Making Memories patterned paper, Ranger ink, Hero Arts stamps, Uni-Ball Signo broad white gel pen, K&Company balloon embellishments

And this is for my neighbor!

But wait!!! There's more!!
My sister asked me (at 12:30 in the morning, mind you!) to make her a thank you card for her friend. So this is what I came up with:

It took me less than 5 minutes to make, and most of the time was the sponging. Not too shabby, eh?

YAY!!! Just a few minutes ago I was going crazy because my camera wasn't working in my computer, but I tried my father's card reader and now it works!!!

Okay, so the first thing I wanted to do was talk about embossing! I've watched endless videos with embossing and I always wanted to do it. So for my Afikoman present this year on Passover, I got a heat tool and embossing powder!! I bought a Marvy Uchida heat tool from dick blick, an artist supply store. And I ordered the embossing powders from http://twopeasinabucket.com. I only ordered black, white and clear because I heard a great tip where you use Versamark ink and any color ink with clear embossing powder and you get any color you want!! So I thought that was enough to start off with!

So I thought it would be super easy to emboss. I think not!! I messed up so many times!! The clear one worked fine right away and the black took two times, but the white was the worst. It took forever to work normally!! I finally just poured it on and barely shook it off, otherwise I'd get a really grainy look, not shiny and smooth at all!

As you can see, the white ones came out really weird until I did the star. The purple one is using Versamark ink and purple ink.

So I had this great idea to make a bunch of cards with embossing, but after all the trouble it took, I decided to stick with what I know I can do for these cards.

So today I went out with my mother and we went to this kinda cheap closeout store where they they have things noone else wanted. We were buying dumb things like magazine holders and rain ponchos, but I went down the scrapbooking aisle, just in case. This store usually has the same, kind of stupid stuff, but I looked anyway. And boy, was I glad I did! I found a ton of K & Company things for really cheap! For me, that is a really nice company. I found 2 paper pads for about $5 each and a whole bunch of embellishments. I think the pads are a bit old, but they're sooo pretty, and I really don't care!

So, using my new things, I made 3 cards and I'm pretty proud of them, considering I havent been making cards in a while due to my busy schedule! What do you think?? The first is for my father, obviously, and the second is for a school friend (who loves owls) and the third is for my neighbor!

I didn't post for so long because of the holidays, so I finally told myself I would post this huge, LOOOOONG post on tons of things!
So..... I bought such cool new things!! And I tried them out and took pictures and had a lot of fun!!
And I spent hours making really pretty cards (if I do say so myself) for my father, because it's his birthday today, and for a friend and a neighbor. And I took like 20 pictures to show everything. So I went online about an hour ago, and when I plugged in my camera to upload the pictures, guess what happened?? NOTHING!!!!
I have no idea why, but my computer does not recognize my camera, which I have had for 3 years and upload pictures from it all the time!! I don't know what to do!! I was so excited to show everything I've been doing and now I can't!

I'm so sad!! :-(

Hm......I'll be back!! I'll figure this out eventually!!

Hey! So this is my first time making a blog, and I'm not really sure how this is supposed to work!! Basically, this is going to be a crafting blog, mainly foccusing on card making. I'm 16 years old, and am pretty new to this whole card-making thing, but I LOVE it!!!

So, I sort of made this blog on a whim, making a reference to my "Alice in Wonderland" obsession in the title. I haven't really decided what to do with this, and I don't have much new projects to show off. So I figured I'd just put some pictures of cards I've made in the past and see how it goes!!

I know they're not so impressive, but please keep in mind that I am young, with a limited budget, and therefore, limited supplies and materials. I try to use products as much as I can, and I don't mind using old products, as long as the person I'm giving the card to likes it!!
